To Ugli...With Love

To Ugli...With Love

After such a spellbinding experience at Ugli, I thought it only right to write one final post to hopefully get some closure over what was an amazing experience for me, and one that I'm confident will help me in the next step of my career. Okay, maybe I'm over-reacting, I'm over it, seriously...but before I go, here's a few things that stood out for me during my time at Ugli.

First and foremost, a big shout out to the Ugli members. It was fascinating to meet such a rich variety of individuals from all walks of life, embodying the entrepreneurial spirit and generally keeping the British economy tickling along nicely. Some of those Uglies that stood out for me include:

Marc at Ugly Models - I'll miss your stories about naughty award ceremonies, hanging out with Brandon Block in Ibiza, business plans with rockstars and obviously your booze schmooze antics.

Ben at ProjectWest12 - Genuinely blown away by how talented you and your company are. I'm predicting big things for you guys in 2014. Loved the Ugli Xmas present, dude.

Dave at N3RD - For his technical expertise at our Short Film Showcases, for offering Christmas shopping tips on ladies cashmere scarves and for generally being a friendly face around the campus, always willing to spare 5 minutes for a catch up.

Bevan at Newsflare - For quite simply being the happiest chappy I've ever met. I seriously need to find out what you're having for breakfast!

Jonathan at Knickerbockerglory - For letting us look after his fish over Christmas and for not losing his s**t when Aleks almost killed them due to force feeding. Looking forward to seeing what you guys have got next in the pipeline.

Matt @ Jen X Films - For always being willing to get involved when any mention of 'networking' was mentioned. From the beer pong to the equipment you lent us, it's always great to have guys like you on board. I should also mention that you chaps have got the coolest office at Ugli, gutted we never got to play that game of Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo.

Arena Flowers - Although I never had the pleasure of actually meeting any of you, your Twitter feed is pretty much the funniest thing I've ever seen and kept me entertained through those dark winter days, so keep it up!

Apologies if I've missed anyone out, I could go on all day.

On a more serious note, it's the community that makes Ugli stand out from other work spaces and gives it a special charm that I didn't realise could exist in a place of work. Ugli's working environment genuinely feels like the future of business and although there are other co-working spaces in London, I doubt any of them have the diversity, personality or the charm that the Ugli members bring to the campus. As I mentioned in a previous blog post, this really does feel like the blueprint for the future of business in London.

On a more personal note, I've come away from my time at Ugli equipped to the teeth with a range of skills that I feel have put me in a great position to take the next step in my career, in particular the community management and content creation aspects. Hopefully, you guys have enjoyed the Ugli Twitter feed, as well as my numerous blog posts and articles for the Lovely Times. This really is the last one...PROMISE!

Anyway, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, all that's left to say is to keep up the member collaboration, get involved with the Ugli events, obey Elodie at all times and continue to ensure Ugli stays lovely inside.
